During his State of the Union address, President Biden highlighted the importance of protecting our communities. This promise was tragically broken on February 22 when Laken Riley, a beloved Augusta University nursing student, was brutally murdered.

A Life Cut Short

Laken Riley, a vibrant and promising 22-year-old, was senselessly killed from blunt force trauma to the head. As a junior at Augusta University's College of Nursing and a graduate of River Ridge High School, she had a bright future ahead of her.

Laken was not a student at the University of Georgia, but she had attended college in the area. Her tragic death has left her family, friends, and the entire community in mourning.
